Miami Art Basel has become a destination for the world’s top collectors of 20th- and 21st-century furniture, decorative objects, and lighting. This year, the fair celebrated the diversity of design, bringing together galleries from five continents.  I spent an amazing 3 days at the Art Basel Miami with a group of clients and friends. It was a whirlwind of gallery visits, meetings with artists and designers, and late night parties. There was so much fantastic art. Here is a tiny fraction of the “best of show”. Enjoy!

romero

We started off with a private tour at Romero Britto’s showroom -these colorful works combine elements of pop and graffiti art.

Campana bench

Then headed to Design Miami, which we got to see in first hand the new  “Cangaço” collection by the Campana Brothers, famous Brazilian artist/designers. Their works are available at the Friedman Benda Gallery and DDC in NYC.

Here we are meeting with Paola Lenti at the Luminaire Lab. I got lucky and got to sit in the swing in front of Paola. These indoor/outdoor swings are the best and can be used in many different applications!

hashimoto

Super cool work by Jacob Hashimoto at Rhona Hoffman Gallery in Chicago. It’s made of wood, acrylic, bamboo, paper and Dacron.

julio stair

We visited the new Hermes home store in Miami. Check out this stairwell decorated entirely with retro-looking scarves by Argentinian artist, Julio Le Parc, for Hermes Editeur, the brand’s ongoing collaboration with artists.  Thanks to Olivier Pechou, VP of Home and Interior Design Projects Americas, for an incredible tour!

penis artist

Another Brazilian artist, Antonio Dias, doing amazing work, this one titled “Cranks” . It’s available through the Galerie Nara Roesler in Brasil.

jim morrison

At Aqua, we were impressed with this  Jim Morrison portrait created by using his song lyrics which are painted on a board! Check him out at the New Apostle Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.

ddc

Our “glam” shot with Susanna Minotti, Alessio Minotti, and Simac and Babak Hakakian from DDC in New York.

gian garofolo

Loved seeing this at Scope Miami. How does the artist, Gian Garofolo, get those drips at the bottom to stay? You can check out more about his work at Evan Lurie Gallery website (or visit the gallery if you’re ever in Carmel, Indiana!).

nick veasey

Perfect art for a Bachelor or guy’s room, the coolest X Ray you’ll ever see. Titled “Union Jack Mini Cooper” by Nick Veasey at the Evan Lurie Gallery.  This will make you think twice about what you leave in your car…

Luscious painting by Jurgen Jansen titled “I never promised you a…” at the Jan Kossen Contemporary Gallery in NYC.
